Workshops on design thinking fundamentals for public services

The Civil Service Training & Development Institute of the Civil Service Bureau invited the HKDI Design Team to deliver ten one-day workshops titled ‘Design Thinking – The Fundamentals’ during 2019–2020. These workshops aimed to enable participants from various government departments to broaden their perspectives of design and acquire basic knowledge and practical skills in design thinking so as to enable them explore opportunities for service innovation at work. Participants engaged with different public service scenarios and generated solutions through the use of a selection of design thinking tools.

Feedback from CSB (paraphrased): The design thinking workshops were highly insightful, interactive and effective. The delivery was impressive; it was professional, practical as well as enjoyable. Participants appreciated the use of video clips in illustrating the complex design thinking concepts. Moreover, participants were able to apply different design thinking tools in solving problems through reviewing real life examples.
